Rebecca Shao

BSc (Hons), MPsych (Clinical)

Rebecca is an AHPRA-registered Clinical Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor. She completed her postgraduate training at the University of Melbourne, and has experience across private practice and tertiary public health settings.

Rebecca has a particular interest in working with adults (18+) experiencing mental health challenges related to trauma, psychosis, and personality vulnerabilities. She also provides therapy for individuals experiencing difficulties with mood, anxiety, stress, adjustment, and relationships.

Rebecca believes in supporting individuals to find meaning in their experiences. Her therapeutic approach is warm, empathic, and relational, guided by kindness, honesty, hope, and humour. Rebecca draws on evidence-based therapies including Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her work is formulation-driven and grounded in a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and strengths-based framework. Rebecca is passionate about early intervention, prevention, and reducing stigma around mental health.

Rebecca offers therapy primarily in English, and can also communicate in conversational Mandarin. She is available on Mondays and Thursdays.
