Dr Taryn Oates
RACGP
Dr Taryn Oates was born and raised in Western Australia and after an early career in finance, decided to pursue her long-held ambition to study medicine. After graduating from University of Notre Dame Fremantle in Western Australia in 2013 and working in hospitals for a few years, Taryn undertook specialist general practice training and obtained RACGP fellowship in 2018.
Taryn’s clinical interests are varied and range from women’s health including menopause & contraceptive procedures, sexual health, sports medicine, paediatrics, skin cancer checks and minor skin procedures. She enjoys the variety of general practice and caring for people from across the full spectrum of backgrounds, demographics and walks of life.
Since returning from a wonderful three year adventure living and working in New Zealand in February 2024, Taryn has been working in various GP clinics throughout rural & remote WA, predominantly in the Kimberley region. Over the last 12 months Taryn has also become a supervisor for GP trainees with both RACGP and ACRRM colleges.
Taryn is excited to start a new chapter in Melbourne and take advantage of all the city has to offer. Outside of medicine, Taryn enjoys playing basketball & tennis, attending live music events and travelling at any opportunity.
