Our Accredited Practising Dietitian provides evidence based nutrition advice to help you manage health conditions and improve your overall wellbeing.
We focus on practical and sustainable dietary changes tailored to your lifestyle and health goals.
About our dietitian services
Nutrition is a cornerstone of preventative health and chronic disease management. Unlike a nutritionist an Accredited Practising Dietitian has university qualifications and is regulated by Dietitians Australia which ensures you receive the highest standard of evidence based medical nutrition therapy.
At Fitzroy North Medical Clinic our dietitian works collaboratively with our doctors to provide integrated care. Whether you are managing a new diagnosis dealing with persistent gut issues or looking to improve your relationship with food we provide a safe and supportive environment for your nutrition journey.
Common reasons to visit our dietitian
You may benefit from a consultation if you are looking for support with:
- Chronic Disease Management: Diabetes, gestational diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol.
- Gut Health: Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Coeliac disease, food intolerances and the Low FODMAP diet.
- Weight Management: Sustainable weight loss or weight gain strategies that focus on health markers rather than just the scale.
- Womens Health: PCOS management, nutrition for fertility and menopause.
- Nutritional Deficiencies: Managing iron deficiency, Vitamin B12 deficiency or transitioning to a plant based diet safely.
Important information for your appointment
Appointment Length Initial consultations are generally 45 to 60 minutes to allow for a comprehensive assessment. Follow up reviews are typically 20 to 30 minutes.
How to Prepare It is helpful to bring a copy of any recent blood test results and a list of any medications or supplements you are currently taking. Some patients find it useful to keep a three day food diary prior to the first visit although this is not mandatory.
Fees and Billing Our dietitian is a private provider and fees are payable at the time of consultation. If you have a valid GP Management Plan or EPC referral you can claim a Medicare rebate on the spot. Most private health insurance extras also cover dietitian visits so please check with your provider for your specific rebate amount.
